Camping Le Plan d’Eau
Camping Le Plan d’Eau is a peaceful family campsite in the Charente, situated in Saint-Yrieix-sur-Charente near Angoulême and 400 metres from the Plan d’Eau de la Grande Prairie. The green surroundings and the location right by the water make the campsite ideal for a relaxing holiday with the family, as a couple or with friends. You can swim in the outdoor pool, enjoy outdoor sports and easily explore nature and the sights around Angoulême.
Camping and staying overnight near Angoulême
At Camping Le Plan d’Eau, you can pitch your tent, park your caravan or motorhome on spacious pitches. There are pitches with and without electricity for up to 6 people, as well as separate motorhome pitches with electricity. A service point is available for motorhomes. Would you prefer to rent accommodation? The campsite has a range of mobile homes and tent cabins. You can choose from options such as the Slow Lodge for up to 5 people and the Bivouac Nomade for 2 people. There are also mobile homes for 2 to 6 people, including models with one, two or three bedrooms. Some accommodation is adapted for people with reduced mobility. The adapted mobile home for 4 people has two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, adapted bathroom facilities and a semi-covered terrace.
Swimming, play areas and campsite facilities
On hot days, the outdoor swimming pool with its sunbathing terrace is a lovely place to cool off. The campsite also features a playground, a pétanque court, table tennis, a volleyball court and a multi-sports pitch. In July and August, there are activities during the day and in the evening, and children aged 4 to 12 can join the mini-club in the mornings. For food and drink, there is a bar, restaurant and takeaway service during the school holidays in July and August. You’ll also find a small shop selling essentials, a bread service, a launderette and a bed linen and towel hire service.

From the campsite, it’s easy to explore Angoulême and the green countryside of the Charente. Angoulême is about 7 kilometres away and is known for its historic centre, city walls and strong connection to comic books. Stroll through the narrow streets, admire the murals or visit a museum, local market or outdoor café. You don’t have to go far for a day out in nature. At the Plan d’Eau de la Grande Prairie, you can go for a walk, relax by the water and enjoy water sports. Canoeing, rowing and sailing are all on offer. The Charente valley also invites you to go for walks and cycle along the river, through the countryside and past local villages. Those who want to get a better taste of the region can explore local markets, regional specialities and the vineyards where cognac and Pineau des Charentes are produced.
