Discover Gîtes & Camping Le Maingaud, a charming, small-scale family-run holiday retreat in the heart of the lush south of France. We are Emily & Dries and, together with our two daughters, we moved from Belgium to this beautiful region in the Charente in 2025 to make our dream come true: a small-scale estate where guests feel at home straight away. With lots of love and enthusiasm, we have transformed Le Maingaud into a welcoming place where you can unwind and enjoy the great outdoors. You’ll now find two cosy gîtes here, a snug mini-campsite, a swimming pool and an outdoor bar, all surrounded by woods and rolling fields.

Here, a holiday isn’t about hustle and bustle, but about spending time together, beautiful nature, sunshine on your face and starry evenings. This campsite is ideal for nature lovers, those seeking peace and quiet, and walkers who enjoy staying in a rural setting, far away from the hustle and bustle.
Camping in the great outdoors
At Gîtes & Camping Le Maingaud, you can camp in simplicity and tranquillity, with spacious pitches that always make you feel as though you’re right in the heart of nature. Here you’ll find pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, all offering views of the surrounding countryside. The atmosphere at the campsite is intimate and relaxed, giving you the freedom to choose your own spot and enjoy the great outdoors at your own pace. As well as the camping pitches, there are also two cosy gîtes available, should you prefer a little more comfort without losing touch with nature. The campsite is particularly suitable if you value peace and quiet, the sound of birdsong and the rhythm of the countryside.
On-site facilities
On the grounds of Gîtes & Camping Le Maingaud, you’ll find the basic facilities you need for a comfortable stay. There are clean toilet and shower facilities with hot showers, so you can always step into your tent feeling fresh after a day outdoors. You can use a communal fridge and freezer, and there’s a washing-up area. For children, there’s a playground where they can play safely whilst you take in the views of the green countryside. Fresh bread is available to order during the high season, so you can start the day with a good breakfast. The swimming pool and outdoor bar are the ideal spots to unwind after an active day.

The area around the campsite is perfect for long walks and cycle rides through the characteristic landscape of the Charente. Here, you can explore quiet country lanes, woods and vast fields where you’ll often spot roe deer, birds of prey and other wildlife. The Charente is known for its gentle hills and authentic villages, where you can easily spend an afternoon wandering amongst old churches and local markets. Just a short distance from the campsite, you’ll find various walking routes and cycle paths, so you can discover a new part of the countryside every day. If you’re looking for even more peace and quiet, the surrounding countryside offers plenty of opportunities for picnics, reading or simply enjoying the silence and the sunset.
