Camping Ont Moeten

Camping Ont Moeten is a nature campsite in the countryside of eastern Netherlands. Spread out across several fields, you can choose your own pitch, with options for both sun and shade. The spots are spacious, car-free and naturally landscaped. Whether you’re bringing a tent, caravan, camper van or rooftop tent, there’s a place for you. Prefer more comfort? Stay in one of the unique accommodations like a cosy lodge, tiny house, gypsy wagon, fisherman’s cabin or a fully furnished tent.

Activities, atmosphere and involvement

Camping Ont Moeten is not just a place to sleep, but one to experience. There are campfires, music nights, bingo, fire shows and small-scale festivals. During themed weeks, you can join in creative activities or even propose your own. The on-site Kraan Brewery offers tours and beer tastings. In Mieke’s studio, you can take drawing workshops, admire her handmade dolls or lend a hand in the vegetable garden. Everything here is driven by passion and involvement. Guests are encouraged to think along and join in. Want to give a workshop or take the stage? There’s space for that too.

The campsite offers warm showers, clean communal toilets and a shared fridge. Power is available at every pitch. The canteen has wifi and is a cosy spot for drinks and conversation. In bad weather, there’s a warm indoor area to relax. Children can enjoy the sandbox or explore the grounds. There’s a pétanque court, fishing pond, and plenty of quiet corners to read or meet others. The vegetable garden provides fresh produce, grass is composted, and even the honey comes from their own bees.

Discover Rekken and its surroundings

Rekken is close to the German border, nestled along the river Berkel, in the patchwork landscape of the Achterhoek. You can walk peaceful paths lined with hedgerows, farmland and old farms, such as along the Reckense Markenpad (around 11 km) or other scenic loops nearby. One of Rekken’s landmarks is the Piepermolen, a windmill from 1796 that opens on Saturday afternoons. Across from the mill is the cosy Kerkemeijer café and a nostalgic shop from 1910 that takes you back in time.

The old church De Antonius is also worth a visit and is now used for exhibitions and concerts. For more action, you can go canoeing on the Berkel, rent a bike from local vendors like Ten Brinke or De Keerse, or join a covered wagon tour through the Achterhoek. Just across the border in Germany lies the Zwillbrocker Venn, a unique nature reserve with marshes, woodland and, if you’re lucky, flamingos during breeding season.
