Camping Padjelanta
Camping Padjelanta, located in a wooded area in Drenthe, is a wonderful destination for nature lovers and families looking for a Scandinavian atmosphere close to home. With camping pitches, safari tents, and rental caravans, this versatile campsite has something for everyone. The Scandinavian theme, inspired by ‘Friluftsliv’ (the love of outdoor living), is reflected in the facilities and activities. Enjoy the spacious camping pitches, make use of the outdoor kitchen, and participate in various outdoor activities. The campsite features three clean, well-maintained, and partially heated sanitary blocks. Prefer private facilities? That’s also possible, as the campsite offers private sanitary units. There is also a heated sanitary block suitable for people with reduced mobility.
Activities and Excursions
Fun activities and excursions are organized for all ages at the campsite. In high season, you can join Ela the Moose four days a week. The various activities revolve around the themes of nature and DIY. Build huts, search for insects in the woods, or help feed the animals on the park. Examples of excursions available during high season include a Land Rover safari, canoeing through the canals of Giethoorn, or attending an impressive bird of prey show. In the evenings, enjoy bingo, campfires, or pétanque. Kids will have a blast on the climbing tower, in the sandbox, the large playing field, or the water playground.
Food and Drinks
Fancy a treat? Visit Herberg de Wilde Hof, the Scandinavian pancake house on the campsite, where you can enjoy delicious pancakes and other dishes. During the high season, there are also cozy pizza nights and snack evenings. Every Monday night in high season, enjoy freshly baked wood-fired pizzas on the large field, and every Tuesday evening, snack and fry nights are hosted at the Praathuis. Craving something different? There are plenty of restaurants in the area, and the reception will gladly provide tips!

Camping Padjelanta is the perfect base for exploring the nature of Drenthe, Friesland, and Overijssel. Nearby, you’ll find national parks such as Dwingelderveld and Drents-Friese Wold, offering stunning walking and cycling routes. For a cultural trip, visit Kamp Westerbork or the mysterious dolmens. For family fun, head to Wildlands Adventure Zoo, Duinenzathe amusement park, or the public pool in Vledder.
Practical Information
Camping Padjelanta offers all modern conveniences, such as 6 to 10 amp electricity, private water taps, wireless internet, and wheelchair-accessible facilities. Dogs are welcome, and electric cars can be charged at the campsite. The center of the village of Vledder is just 1 kilometer away, where you can shop for groceries and fresh bread year-round. During the summer holidays, fresh bread is also available at the campsite reception.
