Jardin Josette
Jardin Josette is a small-scale and atmospheric nature campsite run by Dutch owners on a former farm in the peaceful hills of the Thiérache. You can camp with your tent, caravan, campervan, bus camper, rooftop tent, or experience a stay in a unique Mongolian yurt or retro caravan. The ten spacious pitches in the field offer plenty of choice between sun, shade, or partial shade, giving you a sense of freedom in the wide-open layout. Jardin Josette embraces natural simplicity: no paved paths, no power hookups, and no lighting, which leads to gentle day-night rhythms, dark starry skies, and tranquility. Local trees and shrubs create cosy corners and small-scale shelter.
Relax in the nature of the Aisne
There is a charming shared barn with a refrigerator, freezer, and electrical outlets—perfect for charging devices or sheltering from the rain. Next to the barn is a sunny terrace where you can pick up fresh baguettes or croissants from the baker in the morning. Soft drinks, local vegetables, and eggs from the chickens are available in the barn. In summer, a weekly vegetarian meal is served on the terrace or by the campfire site. In case of rain, the covered lounge in the barn offers safe shelter by the wood fire, complete with games, books, and good company. Around the site are several campfire spots where you can share stories under the evening sky.

The surroundings of Jardin Josette reveal an undiscovered corner of northern France where you’ll be treated to peace, space, and a rich mix of nature and culture. From the campsite, you can walk or cycle straight into rolling hills, hedgerows, forests, and tranquil villages. For a city day trip, many guests head to the charming Rocroi (29.5 km) with its star-shaped fortress, or to Charleville-Mézières (44 km), the birthplace of poet Rimbaud. Reims (68 km) is also within reach, with its imposing cathedral and lively Champagne region—perfect for a day out with bubbles. In the villages of Saint Michel or Parfondeval, you can enjoy a local beer on a terrace or browse a brocante (vintage market) in summer to uncover hidden treasures.
