Beamtegrien Estate
Beamtegrien Estate is a small, forested campsite located on the border of Friesland and Groningen. There are free pitches in the forest or on the meadow where you can pitch your tent. For those without their own camping gear, there is a comfortable bell tent in the middle of the woods, equipped with a double bed, chairs, a small dining table and a cooking stove. Another option is the small but cosy hikers’ cabin La Cabane, tucked away among the trees. The cabin includes a fold-out bed, dining table, cooking stove and a radio – perfect for walkers, cyclists or anyone looking for peace and quiet in nature. Facilities on the estate include a compost toilet, a water tap and a power point near the tent. Guests can use a fire basket or fire bowl (firewood available for a small fee).

Waymarked trails take you through peaceful, varied landscapes. On warm days, Strandheem swimming park is the perfect spot to cool off. This recreational lake with sandy beach, sunbathing area and playground is just a 15-minute drive from Opende. Children can safely play in the shallow water. Close to the campsite, you’ll find Niebert, a charming ribbon village with historic farmhouses and rustic lanes. Visit De Bonte Hoeve (with fun family activities) and explore the open countryside of the Westerkwartier – perfect for a relaxing day out.
