Minicamping het Hijkerveld
Minicamping het Hijkerveld is a small campsite with 15 charming pitches, set in the heart of beautiful Drenthe nature, right on the edge of the vast Hijkerveld. The campsite is quietly located along the Oranjekanaal, with direct access to the Hijkerveld. Whether you bring a tent, caravan or camper, you’ll sleep here surrounded by greenery. You’ll hear birdsong, crickets and the gentle rustle of leaves. On clear nights, the starry sky is breathtaking. The sanitary building is equipped with showers, toilets and a washing machine and dryer, ideal for longer stays. There is also a cosy canteen where you can shelter or meet others in bad weather. Each pitch has electricity and there is a dump station for campers. You’ll find picnic tables, a barbecue area, and in the evening you can relax by the fire pit. Pets are welcome.
The surroundings: pure Drenthe nature experience
From the campsite, you can walk straight into the Hijkerveld within minutes: a vast heath and nature reserve with grazing sheep and Scottish Highlanders. The landscape hides burial mounds, ancient fields and historic cart tracks. Nature lovers will find endless opportunities for walking and cycling. The campsite provides routes that guide you through forests, past small lakes and to recreational areas like the Hijkermeer and the Blauwe Meer. Culture enthusiasts will also be satisfied: the Drents Museum in Assen, the Westerbork Memorial and national parks such as Dwingelderveld and Drents-Friese Wold are all close by.
