Small Campsite in Hem
Tucked away among the ancient fruit trees of a lively nature farm, you’ll camp right in the heart of the West Frisian countryside. Here, just five kilometres from Lake IJssel, you sleep surrounded by free-roaming chickens, goats, horses, and even a cow with her calf.
Campsite with views over the meadows
Whether you bring a tent, campervan or caravan, there’s always a charming spot waiting for you in the orchard. The grassy pitches overlook the fields, and on clear evenings you can enjoy a beautiful sunset through the trees. Besides camping, you can also stay in a cosy, heated caravan nestled right among the animals. There’s always a touch of farm life around you.
Animals, playtime and campfire moments
There’s plenty to do on the farmyard. Children can jump on the trampoline, play in the sandbox, or race around on pedal tractors and go-karts. If you’d like more animal time, you’re welcome to help feed, cuddle or simply sit among them. You’re also welcome to join in the vegetable garden. When the weather turns, the old cow barn offers shelter with a reading nook, games, and a covered kitchen where you can cook. Outside, there’s a wood-fired pizza oven, a fire pit, and a barbecue for hire. You can also book a breakfast with regional products or order a bucket of firewood, for a small fee.
Explore the surroundings: Enkhuizen, Hoorn and Medemblik
The campsite is centrally located between three typical West Frisian towns – Enkhuizen, Hoorn and Medemblik – each about ten kilometres away. Wander through historic streets, visit local museums or relax on a waterfront terrace. Lake IJssel is only five kilometres away and offers great opportunities for swimming, sailing, or simply soaking up the view. Cycling and walking routes take you through the classic North Holland landscape, full of dikes, windmills and flower-filled meadows.
