Microcamping in Wissen
Holschbacher Höhe is an idyllic microcamping site on a green hill near Wissen, in the heart of the Westerwald nature reserve. You camp on one of three charming spots: beneath a walnut tree, in a herb garden, or on a sunny terrace with scenic views. Each pitch has electricity and fresh water. Cars stay outside the site, creating a tranquil and secure atmosphere. In the evening, you can gather around the fire and enjoy the silence of nature. For relaxation, a wood-fired clay sauna is available by reservation. The sanitary facilities are housed in a former barn and are simple yet clean. You’ll find warm showers, toilets, and charging points. The shared outdoor kitchen includes a fridge, stovetop, and coffee corner. There’s also a covered seating area where you can dine or read a book. Wi‑Fi is available at the main building, and firewood is on sale for cozy evenings by the campfire.
Hiking & exploring the Westerwald
From the campsite, walking and cycling trails lead through forests, along streams, and to scenic viewpoints. Nearby is the charming town of Wissen with Schloss Schönstein, the Heister Chapel, and the KulturWERKwissen cultural center. Birdwatchers and nature lovers will delight in the expansive Sieg Valley. Within about an hour’s drive, you’ll find attractions like the basalt quarry near Bad Marienberg, the historic town of Hachenburg, or the monastery of Marienstatt. Schloss Greifenstein, with its impressive viewing tower, is also a great choice for a day trip.
