Moulin Burignat
Moulin Burignat is a small-scale nature campsite located in Montlainsia, in the heart of the Jura in eastern France. The campsite is part of an organic farm built around an old mill and is situated on a one-hectare plot, crossed by a clear stream. There is space for tents, rooftop tents, campervans, and caravans, with six pitches in total. Additionally, there are special accommodations such as a dome and a cozy caravan. Campers have access to a covered 150 m² space with a communal kitchen, dining tables, sofas, and a bar—perfect for relaxing, cooking, or dining together. In the evening, guests can join the table d’hôtes, featuring dishes made from seasonal vegetables from the garden and local products. Thursdays are dedicated to a snail menu, and on some evenings wood‑oven pizzas or hamburgers are prepared. Sunday evenings feature a concert night with warm bread baked over the fire. The bar is open every evening, serving local beer, wine, and soft drinks.

The Jura is known for its impressive waterfalls, among which the Cascades du Hérisson are perhaps the most famous. This hiking route takes you past seven spectacular waterfalls—an absolute must for nature lovers. The Cascade des Tufs, with its moss-covered rocks and crystal-clear water, offers a fairytale-like spot for a nature break. Swimming and relaxation await at Lac Plaisance, a large bathing lake just a short drive away. Here you can cool off, paddle, or enjoy activities at the supervised beach with a playground and water slide. Nearby, you will find several villages listed as “Les Plus Beaux Villages de France.” Château‑Chalon, known for its wine and lofty position above vineyards, is one of them. Baume‑les‑Messieurs, stunningly situated in a gorge with an abbey and caves, is also well worth a visit. Culture and gastronomy enthusiasts can delight in Arbois, the wine capital of the Jura.
