Camping La Vieille Ferme
Camping La Vieille Ferme in Embrun is a quiet and comfortable 4-star campsite near Embrun, 500 metres from the Durance river in the Hautes-Alpes (southern French Alps). The campsite organises guided activities. And since you are here in the French Alps, these are mostly sports-related. The surrounding area offers numerous opportunities for water sports, cycling, hiking and climbing. During the high season, Camping Veiille Ferme offers a varied programme for children and adults. For older children, cosy evenings around the campfire are organised. For adults, La Vieille Ferme campsite organises a volleyball or boules tournament every week. The campsite regularly hosts live music, communal themed meals and an open stage where guests can perform themselves.
On the terrace of La Vieille Ferme campsite near the restaurant, you can enjoy daily specials, pizza or chips, ice cream or a delicious French wine. The pitches are connected to electricity, water and sewerage and are at least 100 m² in size. The sanitary facilities are well maintained and cleaned regularly as they should be. The camping pitches at La Vieille Ferme are spacious and shaded. There is no extra charge for an additional tent, but there is a charge for extra people. You can park your car on the pitch next to your tent. Furnished tents are also available for hire.
At La Vieille Ferme campsite, you can rent comfortable De Waard pyramid tents, model ‘enlarged silver seagull’ with three sleeping cabins, a large living area with a double ridge at standing height and equipped with a sun awning and windbreak. The tents are fully equipped as standard for 4-5 persons and are also equipped with 1 table with 4 or 5 chairs, 2 mattresses on slatted bases, 2 or 3 air mattresses, 1 refrigerator, fully equipped camping kitchen for 4 people (stove, pans, cutlery, plates, cups, colander, kettle and espresso coffee maker), lighting, rubbish bin, dustpan and brush. Not included: sleeping bags, bin bags, tea towels and towels.
Camping in the Hautes-Alpes
The town of Embrun is within walking distance of the Vieille Ferme campsite, where you will find restaurants, shops, terraces and a disco. A larger shopping centre is a 20-minute walk away. Embrun has a medieval cathedral, which is definitely worth seeing inside. There are many nice shops in the village centre. Every Wednesday and Saturday there is a lively market. The continental climate in the Hautes-Alpes ensures warm summers and perfect snow in winter. The microclimate is particularly favourable with 300 days of sunshine and cool evenings. During the day, you can choose to go swimming in Lac de Serre Ponçon (within walking distance). This is also the place for surfers and sailors. The lake has a swimming pool, mini golf and tennis courts. Near Embrun is the Parc des Ecrins nature park. In the nature park, you can go on beautiful mountain walks (with a guide).
In addition to the weekly outdoor sports programme organised by the campsite, you can also take part in sporting challenges that will put your endurance to the test. For example, you can cycle around Lac de Serre Ponçon (100 km), climb a mountain pass, go on a mountain bike tour or do a time trial up to the Les Orres ski area. You can also go rafting on the white water river Durance (17 km route). Climbing, sport climbing or canyoning with the whole family along a number of (climbing) routes with varying degrees of difficulty.
