Le Cheval Rouge
Le Cheval Rouge is a very child-friendly and peaceful holiday resort in northern Brittany, 1 km from the French village of Prat in Cotes d’Armor. Olivier and Chantal warmly welcome you to their Breton holiday farm. An old manor farm from 1880 that has been converted into 3 gîtes, chambres d’hôtes and a small-scale nature campsite on the 1-hectare site. At Le Cheval Rouge, you can stay in one of the three gîtes or one of the two guest rooms (B&B).
Camping and tents for hire
You can stay on one of the pitches in the orchard. Do you prefer glamping, or luxury camping? Then you are welcome to stay in one of the comfortable and fully equipped luxury rental tents (July and August). Upon arrival, you can choose your own spot; quiet in the orchard or cosy near the campfire area. The campsite is an accredited SVR campsite, which means clean and well-maintained sanitary facilities, free recreation between meadows and forests, and enjoyment of peace and nature. In the high season, we mainly have families with children who enjoy their stay at Le Cheval Rouge.
Comfortably furnished permanent tents
There are eight camping pitches with plenty of privacy surrounded by greenery. In July and August, we have eight original and comfortably furnished permanent tents, and there is no space for your own camping spot. We then have four tents with a private toilet block located directly behind the tent. It is a spacious toilet with a sink where a washbasin is built in. For your hot shower and/or washing up, you can use the general sanitary building.
Cosy children’s campsite in Brittany
The campsite is ideal for families with children. Le Cheval Rouge campsite is very child-friendly. Children can play safely here. There are all kinds of playground equipment and games on the grounds. The owners of Le Cheval Rouge campsite organise all kinds of fun activities, such as visits to the petting zoo (owned by the neighbour) and pancake baking.
Tables d’hôtes, dining at Le Cheval Rouge
Don’t feel like cooking? Then you can join us three times a week at the long farmhouse table and enjoy Chantal’s culinary skills. Dining together in the orchard, reminiscing about the day with tips from fellow holidaymakers, children easily make friends.
Discover Brittany from Le Cheval Rouge
Half an hour’s drive from Le Cheval Rouge, there are all kinds of fun and interesting things to discover for young and old. In the wooded area, you will find many special walking trails and the famous GR34 runs along the nearby coast. This much-praised Côte de Granit Rose coast is known for its rugged coastline with extremely large tidal differences. Of course, the characteristic Breton towns of Lannion, Guingamp, Tréquie and Pontrieux are also nearby.
Relaxation and fun activities
Brittany is an ideal area for beautiful walks and enjoying the stunning (rugged) coastline with sandy beaches, the Granit Rose (pink rocks) and oyster beds in the sea. Outside the (busy) high season, the owners organise wonderful, comprehensive walking holidays with delicious food and use of the sauna. Le Cheval Rouge has a relaxed, family atmosphere. If you feel like it, you can take part in various activities, such as an oyster safari, making shell lists, building huts, canoeing at sea, or the weekly barbecue! You can also take part in yoga classes. Organise a table tennis tournament or a disco evening, a puppet theatre show, or do you have another fun idea? We are open to suggestions and will be happy to help you with the preparations.
Inspiration for your stay at Le Cheval Rouge
Water sports are very popular here: sailing along the Les Sept Îles nature reserve, kitesurfing in the bay of St Michel and Greve, surfing in Perros Quirec, canoeing between the islands. In July and August, we organise canoe trips to a number of islands just off the coast. We have several bicycles that you can use, but if you want to go on a nice trip, you can rent electric bikes from the local tourist office. There are several well-marked cycle routes in the area. Golf courses, amusement parks, climbing parks, planetariums, horse riding and zoos can also be found nearby. You can go fishing from boats on the open sea or walk at low tide to find all kinds of shellfish. Visit French markets; there are several markets to visit every day, both large and small. In summer, flea markets are also regularly organised on Sundays in the many picturesque villages of Brittany in the surrounding area.
