Small campsite River
Camping River in Méolans-Revel is a small, quiet nature campsite on a river in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in the French Alps in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. The campsite is aimed at nature and sports enthusiasts. Come here for peace and relaxation, to laze around or be active! Activities include walking, cycling or rafting on the river next to the campsite. The campsite offers spacious pitches (80 to 140 m² with electricity) under the pine trees of Provence, some of which are right next to the river. Camping River welcomes tents, trailer tents, caravans and motorhomes. You can also rent a mobile home or safari tent. The mobile homes vary in size from 4 to 6 persons and have a shower and toilet. Camping River has a small swimming pool, restaurant, bar and terrace by the river. Fresh bread is also available, and you can visit the small shop for basic necessities.
Camping in the French Alps
Camping River is located in the Ubaye Valley, approximately 150 km north of the Côte d’Azur. The Ubaye River flows through the valley, which is also home to the largest lake in Europe at an altitude of 2,000 metres, ‘Lac d’Allos’. The beautiful surroundings of Camping River feature wild mountain streams, canyons, tranquil mountain lakes, forests, rocks and mountain peaks over 3,000 metres high. Here you will find a large number of wild flowers, a very rich fauna and a healthy blue sky with a wonderfully clear starry sky. You can explore more than 1,000 kilometres of hiking trails that take you past picturesque mountain villages, small valleys and mountain lakes.
Organised hiking tours
Hiking tours are organised once a week and you can request a packed lunch. For example, hike to Les eaux Tortes in the Laverq valley, to Lac d’Allos via the hiking trail over the Col de la Cayolle, to Lac d’Oronaye and Lac du Roburent all the way in Italy. If you are interested, ask the campsite for practical information about hiking boots, clothing and preparation. There is plenty to do in the town of Barcelonnette (10 minutes by car). Shopping streets with nice boutiques, (music) festivals, cosy terraces and intimate restaurants. Visit the Mercantour National Park. Or take a day trip to Nice (3 hours) on the Côte d’Azur.
