Nestled on the southern edge of the rugged Causse du Larzac and the Mediterranean hinterland, Mas de Messier offers pure peace and space. The campsite is set in natural surroundings near Saint-Félix-de-l’Héras and features 29 spacious to very spacious pitches for tents and caravans. Spread over 1.9 hectares of natural terrain, the site provides plenty of privacy, with a mix of sun and shade and impressive panoramic views. You can also rent one of the two beautiful safari lodge tents. At 680 metres altitude, summer temperatures remain pleasant—and if it gets too warm, just cool off in the swimming pool. This family-friendly site is ideal for couples and families with children up to 12 who value nature, calm and simplicity.
Rustic camping at its best
Mas de Messier has a relaxed, informal atmosphere with no disco or noisy animation—just pure hospitality, tranquility and that real camping feeling. Facilities are simple yet well maintained, including an accessible toilet block. On the terrace, drinks are served daily from 5 to 7 pm. From mid-June to late August, homemade (takeaway) meals are offered several times a week. The small shop provides fresh bread, ice cream and local wine. Kids love the trampoline and table tennis, and you’ll often spot the friendly chickens wandering around. This nature campsite in the Hérault is all about outdoor living.

The surroundings are a dream for nature lovers and explorers: rocky gorges, waterfalls, mysterious caves and charming medieval villages. Nearby highlights include Cirque de Navacelles, the surreal Chaos de Montpellier-le-Vieux and caves like Clamouse and Demoiselles. Culture lovers can visit the fortified Templar town of La Couvertoirade or browse local markets in Pézenas, Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, Nant and Cantobre. Looking for a day trip? Head to Millau with its world-famous viaduct, or explore the cities of Montpellier, Aigues-Mortes and Sète. Lac du Salagou is just 30 minutes away; the Mediterranean coast about an hour.
